FIRST CRACKS IN THE GERMAN MEDIA'S ANTI-ORBAN FRONT
...while EU starts transferring first proceeds from frozen Russian assets to Ukraine.
What follows is my English translation of a short article originally published on Movisol.org on 22nd July 2024 and on ComeDonChisciotte.org the day after.
For some background information, please refer to this article which I published on 5th July 2024.
The failed EU institutions reacted with angry hostility to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán's peace mission, which took him consecutively to Kiev, Moscow, Beijing and then to Washington for the NATO summit, followed by a quick visit to candidate Trump. Thus, Brussels has decided to boycott Orbán and is even plotting to disavow Hungary's six-month presidency of the EU Council. However, some mainstream media in Europe have broken ranks to cautiously support Orban's initiative.
This is the case with the influential German liberal daily Die Welt, whose Brussels correspondent Christoph Schiltz published a commentary entitled “Viktor Orbán deserves a chance”. Noting that Orbán has failed to clearly condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Schiltz writes that one could “condemn these [diplomatic] efforts as not agreed with Brussels or as the ego-trip of an important figure”. However, “Orbán's lone act is not so wrong. The Hungarian deserves a chance. Together with Turkish President Erdogan, Orbán is the only European and NATO head of government who has good contacts with China and Russia”.
Schiltz then goes on to make a convoluted argument that those who criticise Orbán are not doing enough to allow Ukraine to militarily defeat Russia. It should be noted that despite his pro-Ukrainian statements, the infamous Kiev Disinformation Centre included Schiltz in 2022 in its list of those who ‘promote the Russian narrative’.
Furthermore, Germany's largest-circulation tabloid, Bild, conducted a lengthy video interview with Orbán on 8th July. Bild's deputy editor, Paul Ronzheimer, asked the usual anti-Putin questions, albeit without the usual hysteria. Above all, he let the Hungarian Prime Minister speak without interrupting him. The latter's main point was that if the United States, the European Union and China agree on the need for peace, it will happen. Orbán accused Brussels of simply copying the US position, to the detriment of Europe itself.
On a side note, yesterday (Friday 26th July 2024) the EU announced that it transferred € 1.5 billion ($ 1.62 billion) of proceeds from frozen Russian assets to Ukraine, as reported by Reuters.
Of course, the Orwellian touch could not be missed, as this money will be allocated to the European Peace Facility. In the peace fund they put money to reimburse the countries that have supplied and will supply weapons to Zelensky.
This was reported by Josep Borrell, who also informed us that already € 1.4 billion had been allocated to the European Peace Facility and will be used to finance the acquisition of priority military equipment, including air defence systems and artillery ammunition (source: Reuters).
The EU gives to the Nazi Kiev regime STOLEN Russian sovereign assets. The evisceration of the euro & the dollar turning into dust has officially begun.
