Israel added to UN blacklist of countries harming children in conflict
...while getting ready to launch a large-scale attack against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
With all the events happening in the last couple of days around the D-Day anniversary, Putin’s declarations at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), Russian naval exercises in the Caribbean starting later this summer (see also this post by Andrei Martyanov and this article and this other one by Gilbert Doctorow) etc., you may have lost quite a significant one, which of course the Western mainstream media (MSM) has not covered, i.e. the addition of Israel to the so-called “blacklist” of countries countries harming children in conflict. Of course this event has been celebrated mostly in Arab and Muslim media outlets, e.g. Al Jazeera and Anadolu Agency, whereas it has been deprecated in the Israeli news outlets, such as i24news and The Times of Israel, according to which Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad have also been added to the “list of shame”.
As reported by Anadolu Agency, earlier today “the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres informed the Israeli army's attache in Washington Maj. General Hedi Silberman of the decision” to add Israel to the blacklist of countries and organisations harming children in conflict zones.
It may sound just another symbolic act, however, it is not just another stain on Israel’s reputation, following previous rulings of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the prosecutions of Netanyahu and Gallant at the International Criminal Court (ICC), but, as reported by Middle East Monitor, it could lead to an arms embargo, which Israel fears, of course!
You may also have heard about the news of Israel preparing to launch a large-scale attack against Hezbollah in Lebanon, as reported by both Western MSM, such as Reuters and CNN, and alternative/Eastern media, e.g. Al-Monitor and Al Jazeera. However, this might be the biggest Israeli mistake in the ongoing crisis in the Middle East. In fact, Hezbollah is not like Hamas. While Hamas’s rockets could be described as “fireworks” and yet dragging the Israeli “Defense” Forces (IDF) into an 8-month long quagmire, Hezbollah’s arsenal is way more dangerous, with “roughly 200,000 rockets, mortars, drones, surface-to-air missiles, anti-tank missiles, precision-guided munitions, and other weapons”, as reported by Al Mayadeen in this article titled “'Israel' would lose war against Hezbollah within 24 hours: Reports”, of which I quote some excerpts (all emphasis mine):
Eran Etzion, who served as deputy head of "Israel's" National Security Council during the last war in 2006, told Newsweek that the war would bring unprecedented destruction to "Sensitive areas" within the occupation, detailing that he believes "Israel" would lose "within 24 hours" and emphasizing that it was difficult to see how the war "can be won quickly, or at all."
"From my perspective, I think it's going to be a war that Israel will lose within the first 24 hours," he said, adding that "simply because of the pictures we will see of mass destruction in very sensitive areas within Israel on a scale we've never seen before."

A new study conducted by Tel Hai Academic College in "Israel" revealed that around 40% of evacuees from the settlements in northern occupied Palestine are contemplating not returning even after the war ends.

Shemuel Meir, former head of the Arms Control Branch of the IOF's Strategic Planning Department, told Newsweek that an invasion of Lebanon would bring about a retaliation "of massive missile attacks on Haifa and Tel Aviv."
A Hezbollah spokesperson told Newsweek that despite the threats made by the occupation,"whoever has a loud voice cannot do anything," adding that the Israelis have "not emerged from their quagmire in Gaza after eight months with any achievement other than killing innocent civilians and children."
"Hezbollah is always ready for anything," the spokesperson vowed, "and will defend its citizens and its land without any hesitation."
I think that Israel may want to try to drag the Outlaw US Empire into a war against Iran; however, Netanyahu’s plan may fail and even backfire. In fact, as reported by Al Mayadeen, Doron Avital, a former IDF commander…
warned that the "devastation that we inflicted on Gaza" was making allies like the US less supportive of a war with Lebanon.
"I wouldn't want to go to war in Lebanon without being in sync with the U.S., which, of course, doesn't want it," Avital stated, emphasizing that US support was critical.
According to Etzion, "Once Hezbollah enters, the probability of Iran entering as well grows exponentially, and the degree of involvement of those other militias grows exponentially as well."
The US warned on Wednesday that an escalation with Lebanon would only harm the Israeli occupation's security after the entity's top officials increased their threats against the country in the past few days.
"We don't want to see that escalation of the conflict which would just lead to further loss of life from both Israelis and the Lebanese people and would greatly harm Israel's overall security and stability in the region," State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller said in a press conference.
In the northern hemisphere it is summer and temperatures are rising everywhere, also from a geopolitical point of view, from Ukraine to the Caribbean, passing through the Middle East! Let’s hope that this summer does not become a nuclear winter!
