NATO think tank director's shock statements about children throwing stones in occupied countries
What follows is my English translation of a short article published on L’Antidiplomatico on 12th July 2024. (All formatting original).
Wesley Clark is the board director of the NATO think tank, the Atlantic Council. He previously commanded Operation Allied Force in the Kosovo war, during his tenure as NATO's Supreme Allied Commander Europe from 1997 to 2000. In short, he knows about [war] crimes.
But the statements he made on 9th July during the NATO Washington Summit really leave one petrified.
“When we went to Afghanistan, we went to Bosnia, every time you go in at first, there is no reaction. Then there's a kid throwing a rock. OK, you didn't shoot the kid. OK, we can throw rocks. And then they go up and up and up, and they look in the hole”, Clarke declares, arguing how it is “a virtue” to make that kid realise that it might be “the last thing you do”.
If there were any doubts about what the NATO terrorist organisation really is, Clarke’s candour - a 2004 presidential candidate with the Democratic Party - has the merit of dispelling them all.
More so than Biden's gaffes.
P.S.: Just stop for a minute and think what would have happened in the Italian media circus, had those words been uttered by a Russian, Chinese or Iranian official...
Insane that they can make this sort of statement in public...
