Earlier today (28/01/2024) news agencies reported about a drone attack to the US base Tower 22 at the Syria - Jordan border, with 3 US troops dead and 25 injured, e.g.:
It is not the first time that a US base in the Middle East is the target of drone and/or rocket/missile attacks, but it is the first time (apparently!) that US service members are killed, though I am quite skeptical about lack of casualties in previous attacks.
Wesley Clark, retired US army general and former supreme allied commander Europe, is already beating the drums of war:
…and Joe Biden is threatening retaliation…
…hopefully not against Iran, otherwise… All Hell's Breakin' Loose (cit. Kiss)…
…especially if you consider that just a few days ago Russia and Iran announced that they were about to sign new interstate treaty.
I have always felt for sometime that Israel poses the greatest threat to nuclear war with Iran. Surely Pakistan has considered this although im certainly no military strategist.
If the US were to bomb Iran I suppose Iran inturn would invade or at minimum bomb Israel, perhaps sink a few battle ships.. I doubt any regional Arab state would even consider militarily defending the Jewish state once the fat lady sings.
