Israel declares war against Lebanon
...after a second terrorist attack targeting walkie-talkies across the country, while UNGA votes to end Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories.

Let’s continue from where we were in my previous article, where I reported and discussed the terrorist attack1 that Little Satan (from now on I will call Israel as such!) launched yesterday (17th September 2024) in Lebanon by triggering simultaneous explosions of hundreds, if not thousands of pagers, used by several people across the country, not only Hezbollah fighters, but also doctors, nurses, teachers, etc., thus injuring thousands (~2,800, according to Al Mayadeen) and killing 12, “including two children and several healthcare workers”, as per Lebanese Health Ministry.
This morning, Al Mayadeen, quoting the Israeli Walla! news website, reported that…
Minutes before pager explosion, [Israeli Defense Minister Yoav] Gallant called his US counterpart [Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III] to report that “Israel” was about to execute an operation in Lebanon [but] Gallant refused to give the US Secretary of Defense specific details on the target or form of the operation in Lebanon.
…which has also been confirmed by CNN and reported by The Guardian later today.
But the more interesting part comes from the statements from Lebanese security sources to Al Mayadeen (from its Short News), regarding the terrorist attack yesterday (all emphasis mine):
Pagers had been rigged from source via their IC units, and contained explosive material.
These rigged materials cannot be discovered by scanning them through regular equipment.
Israeli Mossad and Military Intelligence (Aman) are behind this aggression.
Detonation took place through a message relayed by advanced technology which activated the explosive material.
It wasn't the pagers' batteries that created the blast, rather the lithium in them that caused the detonation.
Pager units that had been turned off or those in areas without coverage did not detonate, same as older pager models.
Explosive material was used to kill, especially in waist-strapped ones, so that the blast would directly affect the body.
Roughly four seconds after beeping upon text message delivery, devices automatically exploded, whether or not they were opened to check the message.
Scanning equipment available even in countries and airports around the world would not be able to detect explosive material, which had been specially designed for this mission.
In addition to its unprecedented military crimes in Gaza, "Israel" has, through this aggression, violated rules prohibited in all security wars.
"Israel" used an international company, a civilian device, along with control over the cyber world, and took a decision of intentional mass murder.
The sections highlighted in bold in the text above confirm what I wrote in my article yesterday, i.e. that it was an act of sabotage and electronic warfare2, which found confirmation in the words of a former British Army munitions expert, who spoke to the BBC and quoted by The Guardian:
the devices would have likely been packed with between 10 and 20 grams each of military-grade high explosive, hidden inside a fake electronic component. This would have been armed by a signal, something called an alphanumeric text message
To be honest, I would not be surprised if such a “former British Army munitions expert” was directly involved in this terrorist operation!
By the way, for at least third time in ~24 hour US spokespeople keep insisting that the Great Satan (i.e. the Outlaw US Empire) is “not involved in any way” in the Israeli terrorist attack in Lebanon. Yesterday it was State department spokesperson Matthew Miller and Pentagon spokesperson Major General Patrick Ryder, today it’s White House’s National Security Adviser John Kirby:
Funny how they “want to see the war end” and “prevent the conflict from escalating” and yet they keep adding fuel to the fire by providing weapons and ammunitions to Little Satan, though - it must be said - “US senator Bernie Sanders has introduced a joint Resolutions of Disapproval that would block the sale of US weapons to” Little Satan, as reported tonight by The Guardian - see also Bernie Sanders’s tweet below.
Germany instead “has put a hold on new exports of weapons of war to Israel, according to a report, because of legal cases that argue that such exports breach humanitarian law”, as reported by The Guardian. I will explain why these sudden decisions at the end of this article.
On the other side, earlier today Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian released the following harsh statement:
Western countries and the Americans... fully support the crimes, killings and indiscriminate assassinations of the Zionist regime.
…as reported in this Al Mayadeen article, whereas another one quoted Omer Celik, a spokesperson for Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party, as saying…
[Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu's government is bent on expanding the war to evade international law and relieve pressure on itself. It wants the war to spread over a wide area from Iran to Lebanon. This has nothing to do with the defense of Israel, but is connected to political calculations.
The latest statement brings me to the title of this article, i.e. the declaration of war of Little Satan against Lebanon and Hezbollah, which happened soon after a second wave of explosions targeting walkie-talkies (as per Al Mayadeen), solar energy systems and other devices (as per The Guardian) across Lebanon this afternoon, though, as usual, Little Satan neither confirmed nor denied its involvement in this new terrorist operation, which has killed at least 9 people and injured 300, as reported by the Lebanese Health Ministry, quoted by The Guardian.
Although it may not have declared war against Lebanon and Hezbollah formally/officially, the Israeli Defence Minister, Yoav Gallant, was quite clear, declaring the start of a “new phase” of the war with a focus on the northern front against Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon:
Also Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu later released a brief video stating…
I have said it before, we will return to the citizens of the north to their homes in security and that’s exactly what we are going to do.
…as reported by The Guardian, whereas in another snippet it reported that…
The head of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Lt Gen Herzi Halevi, said Israel has drawn up plans for additional action against Hezbollah and is ready to strike.
Israel has “many more capabilities” that have not been used yet in the fighting against Hezbollah, Halevi said on Wednesday in quotes carried by the Times of Israel.
We have many capabilities that we have not yet activated … We have seen some of these things, it seems to me that we are well prepared and we are preparing these plans going forward.
“At each stage, the price for Hezbollah needs to be high,” he added.
Once again, all of this confirms the fears I expressed yesterday in my previous article:
this operation could be a prelude of an Israeli ground attack in South Lebanon, as they could exploit the fact that hundreds, if not more (thousands?), of Hezbollah fighters are injured and thus out of action. Hopefully, I am wrong, otherwise this could escalate the situation in the Middle East to the boiling point, i.e. a fully fledged war, which may end up involving Iran!
The second wave of exploding devices today has not only killed and injured more people, but it has surely caused even further disruption in the communication system of Hezbollah. So, unfortunately I expect Yoav Gallant to follow up on his words and launch a significant military operation across the so-called Blue Line, i.e. the border between Lebanon and Little Satan, to take advantage of the moment, before Hezbollah regroups and recovers!
In fact, in a speech during the funeral procession commemorating the martyrs who lost their lives in the Israeli terrorist attack that blew up thousands of pagers across Lebanon yesterday, Hezbollah's Executive Council chief Sayyed Hashem Safieddine released the following statements, as reported in this Al Mayadeen article:
Resistance will never weaken!
If your goal is to halt our fight, know that it will only grow stronger and more resolute.
We will enter a new phase of struggle until they understand that we do not waver.
This aggression will certainly have its own specific punishment, and that reckoning is inevitable.
And tomorrow, Thursday 19th September, Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah will hold a speech discussing latest developments.
Meanwhile, in New York the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) “passed a non-binding resolution demanding that ‘Israel’ end its occupation of Palestinian territories within 12 months, with sanctions for non-compliance”, as reported in this Al Mayadeen article:
The resolution, based on an International Court of Justice (ICJ) opinion declaring the occupation unlawful since 1967, saw 124 votes in favor, 14 against [including Great and Little Satan], and 43 abstentions [including a few NATO and/or EU countries, such as: Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden and UK]. Arab countries initiated the special session just before the UN General Assembly.
The resolution calls for “Israel's” withdrawal from occupied territories, halts on new settlements, and the return of seized lands.
It also suggests that countries cease arms sales to “Israel” when there is evidence that the arms are used in occupied areas.

Although the ICJ's advisory opinion is non-binding, it holds significant influence under international law and may weaken the occupation's support. This is similar to the General Assembly's case, where the non-binding resolution carries political weight.
That’s why, as I reported earlier, all of a sudden Bernie Sanders is trying to block the sale of US weapons to Little Satan, whereas Germany has immediately decided to stop its arm sales to the terrorist state of Israel. Because if they do not comply they risk facing sanctions, which now can be enforced on the basis of this UNGA resolution.

It is also worth reporting that, before the UNGA resolution, the Saudi crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman said that Saudi Arabia will not recognise Israel without Palestinian state, as per The Guardian.
Finally, as reported in another Al Mayadeen article, the “UN Security Council is set to convene on Friday [20th September 2024] to discuss the terrorist attack on Lebanon involving pagers and other devices rigged with explosives”, but do not hold your breath! As I wrote in my previous article…
we can expect a Lebanese tentative at the UNSC to get a condemnation of the Israeli attack, which most likely will not happen because of the veto power of the Outlaw US Empire and its vassal states (UK and France)

What kind of precedent are these folks setting? I wonder if this "secret" weapon was supposed to be deployed this early on. I mean, now folks all over the world may begin to wonder who's next? Not to mention the impact on the industries that were involved in developing the devices. Are they complicit somehow?
