Quick update from the Middle East, in particular from Turkey, and then my English translation of two articles, originally in Italian.
Terrorist attack in Turkey

Anadolu Agency has reported about a violent terrorist attack at the facilities of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) near Ankara this afternoon. According to Al Jazeera, at least 5 people were killed and 14 wounded (at the time of writing and publishing this article) and the terrorists (2) have already been neutralised, but no terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet. However, it must be said that every time Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan takes a step beyond the red lines drawn by the Outlaw US Empire (Erdoğan is rallying Islamic countries against Israel, as I reported here, and he is currently attending the BRICS+ summit in Kazan), something happens in Turkey. It happened a couple of years ago with a horrendous terrorist attack in conjunction with Turkey's “benevolent” stance towards Russia and just a few months before the Presidential elections, which in the end were won by Erdoğan. It has also happened now that Turkey has decided to move seriously closer to the BRICS+ group (officially applying for membership) and is participating in a decidedly historic summit in Russia. They may all be coincidences, but rather curious coincidences.

Now my English translation of the two articles, originally in Italian (emphasis mine in both). The first one is an article first published on Movisol.org on 17th October 2024:
Israeli NGOs accuse Netanyahu and the US
Four Israeli human rights NGOs, calling themselves “the Israeli Ceasefire Coalition”, have “called on the international community to act now to prevent Israel from forcibly deporting hundreds of thousands of Palestinians” from northern Gaza under a siege that includes cutting off food, water and fuel. The statement was signed by B'Tselem (the Israeli Information Centre for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories), Gisha (the Legal Centre for Freedom of Movement), Yesh Din (Volunteers for Human Rights) and Physicians for Human Rights Israel (PHR-I). The document states bluntly that:
“There are alarming signs that the Israeli army is beginning to silently execute the Generals' Plan, also referred to as the Eiland Plan, which involves the forced relocation of civilians from the north of the Gaza Strip by means of tightening the siege on the area and starving the population”.
The NGOs reiterated their warning that states have an obligation to prevent the crimes of starvation and forced relocation, and that if the continuation of the “wait and see” approach allows Israel to liquidate northern Gaza, they will be complicit. All states and relevant international institutions should act now and use all the instruments at their disposal - legal, diplomatic and economic - to prevent this.
To remind our readers: the so-called “General's Plan” was drafted by a group of retired IDF generals, led by Gen. Giora Eiland, and was presented to the government in September. The first phase gives all citizens of northern Gaza (“about 300,000 people”) one week to leave; at the end of the week, the area will be declared a closed military zone. The next phase involves the imposition of “a complete and tight siege” to prevent any movement to and from the area and to prevent “the entry of supplies, including food, fuel and water”. On 5, 6 and 7 October, the Israeli army issued new evacuation orders for over 400,000 people in the north of the Gaza Strip and three hospitals.
At the same time, the Israel Defence Forces deliberately targeted UN and peacekeeping agencies in both Gaza and Lebanon. As a result of the attacks, UNIFIL had to reduce its presence by 20-25%. But Netanyahu, in his mad scramble for power, demanded that the UN completely withdraw its contingent from southern Lebanon, which Secretary General Guterres categorically refused to do.
Furthermore, last week an Israeli parliamentary committee passed a law that would prohibit the United Nations Relief Work Agency (UNRWA) from operating on all Israeli territory and end all contacts between the government and the agency. This would mean that all emergency aid to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians “would stop”, warned UNRWA Commissioner Philippe Lazzarini. The bill must now be voted on in parliament.
The second article that follows was published on Comidad.org on 17th October 2024:
UNIFIL WORKED FOR ISRAEL AND NOW IT CAN LEAVE
It seems like a century ago, yet it was only in March this year that [Italian Prime Minister Giorgia] Meloni was playing table football with the soldiers of the UN mission in Lebanon, nicknamed UNIFIL [United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon]; and between games, Giorgia sternly admonished us, stating that peace is not made from the couch, but is built with “deterrence”. Some may remember the heated debates on peace and deterrence that that Melonian performance triggered. Whenever one tries to drag us into these abstract discussions, one must always remember that “Chinese-style” proverb: when you point to the moon, the fool looks at his finger, while the wise person looks at what you are doing with the other hand. Whether the wise person is right or the foolish person is, the certain thing is that the moon should not distract you.
Indeed, one can argue endlessly about whether or not UNIFIL has built peace and deterrence; but there is one thing that UNIFIL has certainly built, and that is a line of military bases, consisting of various fortifications and bunkers to protect UN troops, all the while occupying a fair portion of Lebanese territory, of which the “natives” have in fact been dispossessed. Ever since the Israeli invasion of Lebanon began, UN troops have been spending most of their time in those bunkers, which, besides being well armoured, have (according to rumours) interiors sumptuous enough to make a five-star hotel envious.
Our commentators are now telling us that Israel has been a bit naughty in firing on UNIFIL bases, including the Italian one; however, it must be understood. In fact, the Israeli Defence Force [IDF] has produced overwhelming evidence, nailing UNIFIL to its responsibilities: the photos and videos show without a shadow of a doubt that Hezbollah tunnels were lurking next to UN bases, clearly guilty of hiding underground to avoid being massacred by Israeli bombs. Who would dare doubt the word of the IDF? It has been known to never lie [please mind the sarcasm!]. The UNIFIL mission has therefore proved useless; rather, our soldiers are acting as human shields for the terrorists. The patriots with dual passports (American and Israeli), i.e. the various [Daniele] Capezzone , [Mario] Sechi and [Nicola] Porro [all three are Italian “journalists”, not to say “presstitues”], who last March were extolling Meloni's deterrence, are now clamouring for the withdrawal of UNIFIL troops. And the expensive system of fortifications put up by UNIFIL over decades? Those UNIFIL bunkers have become a prey in themselves, valuable footholds for any military action on either side of the front. If the UNIFIL mission had withdrawn a few months ago, those bunkers would now be the object of armed dispute between the Lebanese army, Hezbollah and Israel. Today, instead, those bunkers would be inherited by Israel for free: a beautiful line of fortifications gift-wrapped and ready to change hands; one of the many cases of Israeli parasitism towards the UN. And then the UN is “useless”?
The uselessness of the UN is one of those misleading mantras that no discussion can do without anymore. There is no hardcore “occidentalist” who does not flaunt the utmost contempt for this institution, which, according to the mainstream media, is allegedly compromised with terrorists and dictators. The fact is that the UN has already in the past proved to be instrumental in aggression by “Democracies”. In March 2011, the UN Security Council, with Russia abstaining, adopted a resolution on a “no-fly zone” in Libya against alleged regime attacks against its civilian population. Between a “no-fly zone” and an actual attack, it was a very short step, and in fact soon afterwards France and the UK abusively started bombing, soon followed by the US and even Italy. The Security Council pretended that everything was regular; after all, three of the aggressor countries are permanent members of the Council.
It is often said, and rightly so, that historical comparisons are to be avoided because there are so many variables and each case must be treated separately. On the other hand, many power patterns represent recurring and repetitive social relations. Bullying is in fact configured not as an individual pathology but as a group pathology, in which the most insidious figures are precisely those who pose as false mediators. Street hooligans spontaneously organise themselves into overt aggressors and fake peacemakers, who interpose themselves by preventing one from striking but not the other. It has nothing to do with the good faith or bad faith of the individual actors, since the UN objectively performs, by its structure, this function of fake peacekeeper, even at the expense of those on the front line. In this regard, the UN has sacrificed the lives of many of its obviously forgotten officials, such as Folke Bernadotte and André Serot, who were killed in 1948 by Israeli terrorists of the Lehi group (better known as the Stern Gang) while they were negotiating a ceasefire and a return of Palestinians who had been ethnically cleansed in the previous months. Bernadotte and Serot were evidently also acting as human shields, like UNIFIL soldiers and paramedics today. Despite the murder of Bernadotte and Serot, Israel was quietly admitted to the UN, cross-eyed as ever. An interposition that the UN has historically only worked on one side, in fact it has never stopped the bullets and bombs of the “Democracies”.
Iraq knows something about this: in 2003 it was invaded by the US despite the fact that it had been undergoing UN inspections for years in order to be disarmed. The US was able to act thanks to that UN-negotiated disarmament, and suffered no sanction from the UN for its illegal invasion. Talk about false interposition. The practical effect of the law is not to impose legality, but to create a space of privilege and advantage for those few who are exclusively allowed to violate it.
The tricks of street bullying unfortunately no longer suffice, because NATO and Israeli colonialism is based on the narrative fiction that we still live in the good old days when “Democracies” held industrial and technological superiority over dictatorship-hungry barbarians. Last Sunday [13th October 2024], Hezbollah drones circumvented Israeli defences and struck an IDF military base in Haifa, in response to bombings against Lebanese civilians. The US will send another anti-aircraft defence system to Israel, the THAAD, and also a hundred military personnel to operate it; but obviously to act as “human shields” against Iranian attacks as well. Perhaps the new air-defense system will also prove ineffective, but it certainly cost a lot of money, and is in fact built by the voracious Lockheed Martin. “Democracy” is still in danger, but fortunately kleptocracy is safe.
I will finish this article with an unrelated post (originally in English) published by the spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, on her Telegram channel tonight, but too funny not to re-post it here:
Small as what? The USSR? The Russian Empire?
Oh, I got it! As the Kievan Rus. For that we need Kiev. You said it yourself, bloody jerk.
LOL! I love Maria Zakharova!
it wouldn't surprise me if Israel is behind all terrorist attacks in the world - Ukraine of course as a part of Israel.
Thanks for this informative post, Ismaele. I really appreciate reading articles from an Italian perspective.
