Before delving into the core of the article, I would like to share the good news about Julian Assange: he is finally free and en route to Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands, US territory in the Pacific, where he will finalize a plea deal with the Outlaw US Empire. In case you have not read/heard the news, I strongly recommend this great article by Caitlin Johnstone.
I think there has been quite a lot of coverage on Julian Assange, also from western MSM media, so I will focus instead on two other topics today.
The first one is the sheer hypocrisy of the West, starting with the International Criminal Court (ICC) which today has issued arrest warrants for two high-profile Russian officials for war crimes and crimes against humanity, as reported by The Guardian, just two days after Ukraine bombed civilians on a beach near Sevastopol in Crimea with US-made ATACMS long-range missiles armed with cluster munitions: Sergei Shoigu, former Minister of Defence and currently Secretary of the Security Council, and Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the armed forces of the Russian Federation. I briefly reported about this terrorist attack in my previous article, with links at the bottom to other relevant posts in my update yesterday.
As if the above was not enough, following the Russian ban of 81 European news media in response to previous European bans of Russian media outlets, the West has gone crazy. See for instance the following title of a BBC article, where they carefully omit the retaliatory reason of Russia’s ban (BBC):
ANSA (an Italian news agency) even reports that the Italian Foreign Ministry (“Farnesina”, from the name of the building where it resides) considers this Russian ban an “unjustified measure”, though the subtitle of ANSA article reports that it is a tit-for-tat measure against recent EU ban of 3 Russian media, but forgetting to report previous ban of other Russian media.
And here is Maria Zakharova’s post on her Telegram channel on this topic (all formatting original):
⚡️ Statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry in connection with retaliatory measures to EU restrictions on Russian media outlets
💬 As a retaliatory measure to the EU Council decision adopted on 17th May to ban “any broadcasting activity” by three Russian media outlets (RIA Novosti, Izvestia and Rossiyskaya Gazeta), which comes into force today, 25th June, counter-restrictions are being imposed on access from the territory of the Russian Federation to the broadcasting resources of a number of media outlets of EU Member States and pan-European media operators systematically disseminating inaccurate information on the course of the special military operation.
The Russian Federation has repeatedly warned at various levels that politically motivated harassment of domestic journalists and unjustified bans on Russian media in the EU will not go unanswered. In spite of this, Brussels and the capitals of the bloc's countries chose to follow the path of escalation, forcing Moscow to adopt mirror and proportional countermeasures with yet another illegitimate ban. The responsibility for this development lies solely with the EU leadership and the countries of the bloc that supported this decision.
If the restrictions on Russian media are lifted, the Russian side will also reconsider its decision with regard to these media operators.

The other topic I want to deal with, as per subtitle of this article, is how “democratic elections” are piloted in the West. You see: following the latest elections for the European Parliament, the French president Emmanuel Macron called for snap elections in France, where the far-right Rassemblement National (RN) party got lots of votes and Jordan Bardella (pictured in the photo below), the RN party leader, will most likely be the next French Prime Minister (PM).
But, just as Giorgia Meloni did in Italy, he is starting to play it safe with the Outlaw US Empire, in order to get the green light from Washington for his future appointment. In fact, just a week ago, on Wednesday 19th June 2024, he said that he “doesn't plan to question the commitments France has made on the international stage” and that French “credibility towards our European partners and NATO allies is at stake”, as reported by Le Monde.
Then, after making a profession of faith by declaring that he would continue to support Ukraine without ifs and buts, comes the other bow before the masters from overseas. His last words, as reported yesterday, 24th June 2024, by Middle East Eye:
I am not saying that this should not remain a horizon, but to recognise a Palestinian state as we speak would be to recognise terrorism.
This would grant political legitimacy to an organisation which provides in its charter for the destruction of the State of Israel.
Dear Bardella, now you can rest assured that you will be made PM without any problems. After all, PMs in Europe do not have to answer to their own people. They have to answer to the Zionists and the Outlaw US Empire!
If hypocrisy and double-dealing equated to REAL power, the US/NATO would have already conquered the world.
Instead, these qualities lead to delusional thinking which results in short-sighted and self-destructive actions. Hopefully, this process continues until the US Empire is muzzled and chained.
The big question is, will this occur without the rabid dog unleashing the nuclear option? People say this won't happen because of fear of its own destruction, but I'm not so confident. There may be "sane" voices in DC, but the decision makers don't seem to be listening to them.
To console myself, I am putting my faith in the Russians who seem to have a firm grasp of reality, and superior military and diplomatic (no comparison here) skills.
